When Veronique contacted me about a blog design, she had a list of requirements and I think I did pretty well hitting them!
Her old design:

This was the logo presented to me, but she said she wasn’t married to it. I wanted to work with it, though; just give it a little different look.

Veronique said she loved a blog that used corners on the photos, wanted prominently featured photos, a fun header, robin egg blue, yellow and brown colors, prominently placed subscription box and social media icons, mobile-ready, Thesis like (or grids as we call them in Genesis) posts (ie a featured post and excerpted posts below) and a few other smaller requests.
I introduced her to the Decor theme by Genesis/Studiopress. And that was it! A theme that could be customized by me (you’ll notice this theme did not have the grid-like posts, for example) but had many of the elements all ready to go including a recent upgrade of the theme making it mobile responsive. Lately I’ve been creating custom themes for clients running off of the Genesis framework, but in this case, why recreate the wheel?!

The end result is a customized and elegant but fun design for the food and wine chickie!

This is a fantastic web design for the food and wine chickie. I like the corners, it makes it look sort of like a scrapbook. It is elegant but also approachable and very well-organized. Now I am in the mood for a glass of wine.
